"Heartaches, broken pieces, ruined lives are why you died on Calvary. Your touch was what I longed for."

So yeah, that song quoted above is totally unbiblical. And it was just played on my church's new online broadcast (groannnnn), Taking the Cross to the World (TCW) Radio (obviously no radio waves involved ). So, obviously, I can't endorse everything 100%...But anyway, figured I'd share the link.  plays 24 hours, with music, preaching, and our church services live. Just started up yesterday. Obviously, ya can't beat Old Christian Radio, but it's always good to have other options for those times OCR is playing that crazy old Jewish guy with the overactive vibratto that makes me wanna hurl.  LOL, but no, seriously, I'm not picky about people being good musically, since I'm awful myself, but that guy is just about the worst singer I've ever heard, and not even close to tolerable. Innnn other news...

  Broadband        Dial-up
Listen to TCW Radio with a fast connection. Listen to TCW Radio with a slow connection.

So yeah, don't go yell at me if you hear anything unbiblical (*cough* easy prayerism), just throwing out the link.

Jesus didn't die for our heartaches, ruined lives, or broken pieces, or as another song says, for our tears. He died to deliver us from our sins. Lyrics like "Heartaches, broken pieces, ruined lives are why you died on Calvary" present the modern gospel that Jesus will improve our lives: "You have a God-shaped hole in your heart, but God has a wonderful plan for your life; come to Jesus; ask Jesus into your heart and you'll be so happy, and all your problems will be solved!" Both people who are heartbroken and those who aren't need the righteousness of Christ. Once we make it about righteousness instead of emotions, we can eliminate the problem of stony-ground hearers. Jesus dying for our worldly problems doesn't work because 1) many non-Christians are doing just fine--millionaires, lots of women, cars, etc.--and are enjoying life; and 2) the Bible promises tribulation, temptation, and persecution for all who will live godly in Christ Jesus.

awesome, I've been listening to Old Christian Radio for like a year, I love it!!  Also, have you heard Christ Our Life, they have free worship music w/ lyrics & its mostly scripture....  http://www.christourlife.ca/Free_Worship.html  And, check out their teachings, pretty good stuff, have you heard of David Kirkwood?  Read some of his stuff, you'll like it!  http://www.shepherdserve.org/false_grace_gospel.htm  So, why do you call sodomites "queers"? thats not very nice...

Just had to take exception with the claim that the lyrics of the song "Broken Pieces" are unbiblical.  The reason I take this position is from Christ's own definition of his office in this world, as found in Luke 4:18.

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

While I completely agree that the purpose of His death on the cross was redemption from sin, some of the very effects of sin from which he offers release are those described by the above scripture and echoed in the song... "heartaches, broken pieces, ruined lives are why you died on Calvary..."  This, to me, is a beautiful picture of the effect of salvation on the sin-wrenched and damaged heart and life of the sinner.  No, it's not about ease of life, but it is about the atoning blood of Christ providing freedom from the shackles of sin and His grace enabling us to live "soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world."  Praise God for the plan of salvation!

God bless...

He was beaten for out transgressions bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was on him.... He said the spirit of the Lord Gid is upon me because the Lord has appoint me to preach good tidings to the poor to bind up the broken hearted.... All this was accomplished when he died ob Calvary.
